Let’s say you manage a cozy mountain lodge in a popular ski resort. Your typical guests are couples and families eager for a peaceful retreat and a few days on the slopes. But after listing your property on a new online platform, you’ve started attracting more travellers staying only for one-night.
Your go-to solution in this scenario? Minimum stay restrictions! Your usual guests tend to book for two or more nights, and you’ve observed that those who stay longer leave glowing reviews and spend more on dining and activities. By implementing a two-night minimum stay, you not only boost your revenue but also naturally attract your ideal guests.
At RoomPriceGenie, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our latest feature: Minimum Length of Stay Restrictions. Our customers have highly requested this addition, which is designed to give hoteliers greater control over their bookings, ultimately helping them maximize occupancy and revenue.
What is the minimum length of stay restriction?
With minimum stay restrictions, you can set the minimum number of nights a guest must book to stay on a particular date. For example, when a minimum stay of three nights is set, any booking for that night must be for at least three consecutive nights.
Minimum stay restrictions can be used to spread demand from particularly busy nights, allowing you to fill up the not-so-busy nights on either side. Additionally, many hotels use them to save on housekeeping costs since there’s no need to turn the room around during the stay.
Why minimum stay restrictions matter
Many hoteliers consider minimum stay restrictions a crucial aspect of revenue management. By controlling the minimum number of nights a guest must book, hoteliers can better manage their inventory and maximize revenue, especially during high-demand periods. That’s why this feature is now integrated into RoomPriceGenie, allowing users to manage these restrictions as easily as they manage pricing.
“Minimum stay restrictions are an important part of the revenue manager’s toolkit, and we have been looking into adding this feature for years. But before doing so, we wanted to be confident that we could give a simple and intuitive user experience, like we do for everything else we do. Thanks to the product research team, we feel like we are releasing a feature that we can be proud of, and we hope that our clients enjoy using it as much as we enjoyed building it.” – Ari Andricopoulos, Co-founder and CEO of RoomPriceGenie.
Automatically correct impossible restrictions:
RoomPriceGenie will search for and correct impossible minimum stay scenarios, such as when surrounding nights are fully booked for a specific room type.
Define rules:
Professional plan users can set criteria to automatically remove minimum stay restrictions within a certain number of days before the arrival date or in response to not meeting an occupancy threshold.
Introducing minimum stay restrictions gives hoteliers greater control over their booking strategies, helping them optimize occupancy and increase revenue.
This feature is already available for Property Management Systems like Mews and will soon be rolling out for Cloudbeds, Beds24, Apaleo and Booking Factory. We’re also planning to expand to more PMS integrations in the near future.
What’s next for the MinLOS feature?
Our Genies are planning to further enhance the minimum length of stay feature, including automating the setting and release of restrictions and providing smart recommendations on the optimal minimum stay lengths for your property.
From the beginning, our customers have been at the center of creating our solution. Hoteliers’ feedback is the driving force behind our product development, so they can always count on the right price, every night.
