North South Holiday Park

North South Holiday Park sits five minutes from Christchurch Airport, set on quiet, tree-lined grounds. For many international guests it's their first night in New Zealand, and for road-trippers it's often the last stop before flying home. Dan Fraser and his wife Emily took over the park from Dan's parents in 2017, and his parents had spent more than 30 years in the holiday park industry before that. The park offers cabins, self-contained units, family and group accommodation, powered sites and tent sites. It's also the only holiday park in Christchurch with pet-friendly units, cabins and campsites.

“RoomPriceGenie has removed much of the guesswork and manual workload, while giving us more confidence that our pricing is responding quickly and accurately to demand.”

The Challenge

Dan set every rate himself. He checked competitor prices, reviewed occupancy and bookings, and adjusted rates himself, especially in busy periods. "It was a very manual process that required constant checking and adjusting," he says. "Because the pricing relied heavily on my own judgement, there was always the potential to miss changes in demand or make adjustments too late."

The park was full, but it wasn't always earning what guests were willing to pay.

The Trigger

North South grew significantly over three to four years, and Dan's time became harder to find. He had looked at RoomPriceGenie before without signing up. Then another holiday park operator told him they'd grown revenue by 30% over the summer after switching. "That was really all I needed to hear!"

Dan considered other options. What sealed it was knowing that several holiday parks across New Zealand already used RoomPriceGenie, including operators he respected.

The Solution

RoomPriceGenie now handles the daily rate-setting, and Dan checks it each morning to review pricing, demand and upcoming periods. He stays in control: he can change a single day or update rates in bulk across a longer stretch. "It responds to changes in demand much faster than I could when managing everything manually," he says.

The first year was quieter than hoped, mostly because the summer season itself was slow. The second summer showed what the system could do.

The Result

Revenue in February 2026 rose by more than $100,000, a 50% jump on the year before. For the year ending March 2026, North South recorded:

- 10% more revenue
- $19 more per night on average
- 4.6% higher occupancy, at a park that was already consistently busy

The biggest gains came when supply was tight. "We were filling our rooms, but we were not always achieving the rates the market was willing to pay," Dan says. "RoomPriceGenie has removed much of the guesswork and manual workload, while giving us more confidence that our pricing is responding quickly and accurately to demand." Reminder: send through a photo of the park, and one of Dan (and Emily, if possible), when you have them.
