Strictly Business

I became a part of the RoomPriceGenie family in July, 2022 with the role of a Business Development Representative focusing on the Spanish market.
The truth is that I have done many different things but they all have had one thing in common: “Dealing with the customer”. I studied a degree in Tourism in the city of Bilbao and, in my last year, I specialized in Hotel Management. After finishing my studies, I began working in a small hotel as a Shift Manager while I saved up money to go to Les Roches, in Switzerland, in order to continue my studies. Also, over the years, I did different things to gain experience. I started refereeing football matches at the age of 13 and continued to do so for 9 years, working as an assistant referee in Spain’s Third National Division and as a main referee in the Division of Honor (top regional category). I have also worked for a clothing store, in the tourism offices of the airport and cruise port, and at a wide variety of events, among them, the Women’s Ski World Cup. Once I finished my studies in Switzerland, I found the opportunity to work for RoomPriceGenie. Something new and at the same time very exciting!
I think the fact that anyone can learn to use it in a simple and fast way is what makes it stand out. Also, it is transparent with all the operations it performs, and it is efficient, being able to make the most of it and benefit in any situation.
I know firsthand what it’s like to have to change the prices for each channel one by one. At the hotel I worked for, it could take hours. We were keen to offer dynamic pricing manually, but it was simply too time consuming. Having a tool like this would have allowed us to do it much faster and saved time to do other important things. I want to let hotels know that there is a solution to the frustration of price changes, and that solution is, of course, RoomPriceGenie.
Being able to talk to many different properties and hoteliers and seeing that they all have the same problem: Time. We have very interesting conversations where they expose their problem and I can provide a solution. Seeing their attitude towards our service and getting the feeling that they are going to love it.
For me, the favorite and least favorite part starts from the same base: Technology. On the one hand, you can find people who are excited about technology. They know it’s the future, and if they don’t adapt, they’ll become obsolete. These people know the importance of technology, so, in that sense, they are more open-minded and are willing to change. It’s really nice to have conversations where the enthusiasm and eagerness is palpable in the atmosphere. On the other hand, there are also many people who are totally against technology and, therefore, prefer to do everything the old-fashioned way, like changing prices by hand, not using backup engines, etc. They prefer to do everything with pen and paper. Their minds aren’t very open when it comes to acquiring technological products, and are not willing to change. I would say that of all, this is the most frustrating part for me.

James’s Travels. I chose this title related to “Gulliver’s Travels” as I think my life has changed from many different paths and it never seems to end. It is actually a very fun way of living, trying and doing new things from time to time.
I love doing sports, hanging out with my friends and girlfriend and most probably going out for dinner or just playing video games.
