Strictly Business

I joined RoomPriceGenie in January 2022, as Sales and Country Manager for Australia & New Zealand. From a sales perspective, I’m responsible for the sales and onboarding processes of partners within the Oceania region primarily. However in a revenue capacity, I work with our existing partners to ensure they are utilising the platform to the fullest extent to maximise their rooms revenue.
After completing my Bachelor of International Hospitality Management, I joined a large international hotel group, where I completed their management training program. Over the subsequent 8 years with the group, I worked in Front Office Management and Revenue Management capacities across a range of 3*-5* properties. I then joined a well-known OTA, in a sales and account management capacity looking after Global Chains for New Zealand, before landing here with RoomPriceGenie.
Revenue Management tooling has predominantly only been available to large hotels that likely have the financial and human resource to manage and maximise the benefits these systems bring. I love the fact that RoomPriceGenie, through it’s simple design and pricing structure, has the small to medium sized property at the core of it’s focus! RoomPriceGenie truly levels the playing field when it comes to revenue management.
There is so much untapped revenue potential in the small to medium sized accommodation space, but often owners or managers are too time poor to focus on pricing… or they simply don’t know where to start! I love that I can bring a solution to them, that saves them a significant amount of time, while generating additional revenue that they would have likely forgone.
Hands down, the best thing is talking to hoteliers across the world and taking the time to understand their business and local markets! Through these conversations, you’re able to share success stories from other properties, and provide guidance as to potential solutions for them, based on others experiences. However, I find that within our target audience, the mindset around technology adoption (generally speaking) often comes with hesitation, resistance or trepidation. Technology has grown so quickly, that education becomes a significant piece of the puzzle, in helping these businesses to better understand the benefits that hospitality tech can bring them.

A little more…

Honesty, Trustworthiness, Supportiveness
I know they’d say I’m way too organised sometimes, but I’d like to think they’d add that I’m dependable, friendly, and honest.
Life is short, so be open to opportunities that come your way. You never know where they could lead.
Just Go With The Flow! Sure, I’m a city guy at heart, who LOVES to travel… but, I grew up in the city never thinking I’d actually live abroad. I ended up living overseas in my early 20’s for 8 years, and on returning home to New Zealand, moved to a rural acreage with cows! Not what I had planned, but it happened, and I absolutely love the lifestyle my partner and I have now!
Likely catching up with friends or family… if we’re not busy mowing lawns, tending to gardens or playing with dogs (we breed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels)!
