9 hoteliers across Australia and New Zealand on what changed when they let RoomPriceGenie take over pricing

Winter is quiet. For independent hotels, motels and holiday parks across Australia and New Zealand, that’s exactly the problem, and exactly the opportunity. Every property below found the same thing: the quiet months are the best time to fix pricing, because by the time summer arrives, it’s already working for them.

Across more than 4,500 properties in 65 countries, RoomPriceGenie customers see revenue climb by an average of 19%, and get back around 10 hours a week they used to spend on pricing admin. Here, in their own words, are some of our happiest clients closer to home.

Australia

Best Western Plus Hotel Stellar | Sydney CBD

General Manager Daniel Rosso used to spend 90 uninterrupted minutes a day getting pricing right across eight room types. One distracted morning could mean a costly mistake. Since switching, rates have climbed almost 8% and revenue is up more than 7%, without any increase in occupancy. The 90 minutes? Gone.

“Si te distraías un momento, era muy fácil fijar por error un precio demasiado alto o demasiado bajo para una habitación. Llevaba mucho tiempo, era propenso a errores y, sencillamente, no era viable”.”

— Daniel Rosso, General Manager

Refugio en la selva tropical Kipara — Airlie Beach, QLD

Pricing a newly expanded 67-room property by hand was a genuine strain. Since automating it, Kipara has seen revenue up 20% and occupancy up 26%, with stronger returns on every room sold.

“Managing our pricing strategy is a breeze compared to our manual processes before.”

— Jarratt Horton, Revenue Manager

El cobertizo para botes Apartments — Airlie Beach, QLD

A family new to hospitality, running 33 apartments with no revenue management background. Their rates now sit more than 10% above the local competition, occupancy is up, and Lea no longer needs to watch the numbers every day to know they’re right.

"Confío en que RoomPriceGenie está haciendo lo suyo, incluso cuando no estoy mirando, lo cual es reconfortante".

— Lea Andrews, Owner

The Noosa Apartments — Noosa, QLD

One apartment that used to sell for $280 now regularly goes for $450. The penthouse, once $550, now averages $850 a night. Total revenue is up 15 to 25% in just three months.

“RoomPriceGenie has taken a bazooka to what we thought was possible for any particular room to achieve.”

— Joe Manning, Owner

Hotel Etico — Blue Mountains, NSW

Katie’s team used to spend more than eight hours a week pricing rooms by hand. Since switching, bookings have doubled and revenue is up 36% year-on-year.

“We’ve never been more strategic with pricing thanks to its automation and insights.”

— Katie Parker, Hotel Manager

New Zealand

Aura Accommodation — Rotorua

Nick bought a run-down Rotorua motel in 2017 and knew flat seasonal rates wouldn’t cut it. During the July school holidays, Aura sold 342 of its 345 available rooms, with rates up 20% on the year before.

“I logged on today for the first time in a week, and yet I knew that over the course of the last week, my pricing was moving accurately and effectively with what was happening in the market.”

— Nick, Owner

Coromandel Shelly Beach TOP 10 Holiday Park — Coromandel Peninsula

Fourteen accommodation categories, once priced on static seasonal rates that missed demand constantly. Since switching, the park has had its best financial year on record, with turnover up 30%.

“We’ve just had a record financial year, up around 30% in turnover. That’s thanks to a few factors, but one of them is implementing RoomPriceGenie.”

— Aaron McFarlane, Co-owner

2 on Whiteleigh & 239 on Lincoln Motel — Christchurch

Zach’s team grew revenue 20% for the full financial year, with lower occupancy than the year before. In peak months alone, revenue was up 30%.

“Our revenue increased by 20% for the financial year 2024, with even lower occupancy.”

— Zach Tang, Hotel Manager

Local support matters

Each of our clients wonders the same question before they sign up: What happens when something goes wrong?

For most software options serving Australia and New Zealand, the honest answer is a support ticket, a time difference, and a wait. We’re different. Our support team is based right here, across Australia and New Zealand. When you have a question, you’re talking to someone in your own time zone who understands your market, your season and your property, with no waiting around.

Use your low season wisely

Setting up while things are quiet means your pricing is fully dialled in and running on autopilot well before your first spring or summer bookings roll in. Get it right now, and by the time your peak season arrives, you won’t be pricing rooms. You’ll be watching them sell themselves.
