Sven recently joined RoomPriceGenie as a master thesis student in the role of a data scientist. By applying machine learning to historical reservation’s data he is trying to make our price recommendations even better!

What is your role at RoomPriceGenie and how long have you been with us?
I recently joined RoomPriceGenie as a master thesis student in the role of a data scientist. My thesis project is about applying machine learning to historical reservation data to make our price recommendations even better. In addition, I am working on using the same data to develop exciting new features for our customers to help them better understand their business success.
What is your background in?
I am currently in the process of completing my master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Management at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology with a strong focus on statistical methods and machine learning.
What do you think makes the RoomPriceGenie solution unique?
Our solution focuses on what really matters to our customers: saving time in pricing while allowing for customization through an intuitive user interface. In this way, our product offers the hotelier the luxury of not having to worry about setting the right prices.
What is something that hotel owners have to deal with that you want to fix?
Hotel owners have a vast number of different responsibilities when it comes to managing their hotel – and pricing is just one of them. I want to make sure that they can focus on what they enjoy most – providing a pleasant experience for their guest – and spend less time on the tedious task of getting their pricing right.
What’s the coolest thing you are working on right now?
We are currently working on new features that will help hoteliers gain more insight into their booking performance. I am proud to be part of the group that works on this much sought-after feature which will provide great value to our customers.
What is your favourite and least favourite thing about working in hospitality technology?
My favorite thing: heaps of complex data to work with.

The great why: life, living and the intricacies of human existence
Life itself is the greatest challenge we face and something we can learn more and more about, no matter how much experience we have already gained.
What’s the best advice you were ever given?
Always put yourself in the other person’s shoes before you judge their behavior and motives.
What three words would your friends use to describe you?
Lively, attentive, conscientious.
What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
Running for hours at a time, hiking and playing my guitar.
