In our Meet the Genies series, we give you the opportunity to get to know the friendly faces that make RoomPriceGenie more than just an algorithm. Today, we introduce Kieran, a great addition to our sales & business development team.
Let’s get to know him a little more…
What is your role at RoomPriceGenie and how long have you been with us?
I currently am handling a role within Business Development for RoomPriceGenie. At the moment it is focused on the regions of UK and Ireland but I am open to other English speaking markets as they develop.
What is your background?
Since graduating from University I have been continuously working in Technology Sales. I have worked across numerous industries but most of my time was spent within Financial Services. Working in Financial Services was challenging and rewarding in equal measure but when the opportunity to move into hospitality revealed itself, I felt it was something that I would benefit from exploring.
What do you think makes the RoomPriceGenie solution unique?
I could take this opportunity to rhyme off the benefits of the underlying technology here. But really, I would have to say that what makes the solution unique is that it is being directed to small & medium sized hoteliers. The technology here has long been utilized by larger chains. It is good to see the playing field levelled a little.
What is something that hotel owners have to deal with that you want to fix?
Hoteliers are so often held back by time constraints. This seems to have only been exacerbated by the effects of Covid-19 and changes in staffing levels resulting from that. If we could go some way to helping that I feel that we would be doing a good job.
What’s the coolest thing you are working on right now?
RoomPriceGenie has such a wealth of partnerships and can integrate seamlessly with many other complementary technologies. At the moment I am speaking with clients of our partners in order to help them explore how we can enhance their current infrastructure & how we can increase revenue generated by their property with our approach. It is a straightforward sales approach but it is very rewarding when I speak with people who aren’t familiar with such technologies but are excited by what we can provide following our chat.
What is your favourite and least favourite thing about working in hospitality technology?
My favourite thing about working in hospitality technology is that the people I have the joy of speaking with are, for the most part, hospitable. I’ve been lucky to have worked in a number of different industries but the people within hospitality are endlessly interesting and unique. My least favourite thing would be that there are some hoteliers who have more of an ‘old school’ approach and sometimes don’t see the benefits that new technologies can bring to their business.
A little more…
What are the values that drive you?
Hard work, pride & happiness.
What three words would your friends use to describe you?
I’d rather not know!
What’s the best advice you were ever given?
Not advice, but something to live by – “You only get one trip around on this rock so enjoy it while you can.” I’m sure it’s paraphrased from someone wiser but it was shared with by a customer in my bartending days.
If you could write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?
Working Hard to be Happy.
Tying into the previous answer about advice; I feel that seeking & achieving happiness is key to what we’re all doing here.
What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
Spending time with my wife & bear, Parkrun, watching sport, drinks with friends amongst other things.
