Birte Neelshen – Business Development Manager

In our Meet the Genies series, we give you the opportunity to get to know some of the friendly faces behind the RoomPriceGenie machine a little better. Today, we have Birte! With hands-on experience in working for 4* and 5* hotels, Birte helps the RPG team with all things from sales to event planning and has a really cute dog, Louis! 

Strictly Business

What is your role at RoomPriceGenie and how long have you been with us?

I take care of the customer relationship, sales, event planning and business development with my colleagues here at RoomPriceGenie. Happy about it since December 2019.

What is your background in?

I studied Hospitality Management at the IUBH-International University of Bad Honnef and gained some hands-on experience while working in 4* and 5* hotels.

What do you think makes the RoomPriceGenie solution unique?

We really care about the small hotel properties in this world. We want to help them stay competitive in an increasingly complex environment.

What is something that hotel owners have to deal with that you want to fix?

In particular, hotel owners who have been managing their small properties by themselves for over 10 years are having a hard time adapting to the new age of digitalisation and hotel software solutions. On the other hand, they realise that now-a-days you cannot survive without it. My team and I want to help those hoteliers to have the courage and patience to dive deeper into dynamic pricing and revenue management.

What’s the coolest thing you are working on right now?

I love that I get to speak with amazing people all around the world. Currently, mainly from Australia which is pretty cool as part of my family lives there.

What is your favourite and least favourite thing about working in hospitality technology?

I really love working in the hospitality industry, you get to know so many amazing and lovely people all over the world. To learn about their individual stories and specific hotels is exciting. To hear that we helped our clients to make the most out of their properties just makes your day.


My least favourite thing about working with hoteliers is probably their stubbornness when it comes to trying new things.
 You know that they need to do something to stay competitive, but instead they stick to their old ways of doing everything manually. Knowing they are losing out is quite sad.

Who inspires you?

I guess there is not one specific person but instead the people who have the courage to go out there and try to make the world a better place are inspirational.

What are the values that drive you?

Openness, friendliness, thankfulness

If you could write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?

Better an Oops than a What if.

What’s the best advice you were ever given?

“It is how it is. But it will become what you make out of it.”

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Optimistic, curious and caring

What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?

Going a nice hike with my dog Louis and enjoying nature, sunshine and my loved ones.
